How Does a Twin Screw Pump Work?
A Twin-Screw Pump, also known as a Two-Spindle Screw Pump, is a heavy-duty, high-capacity rotary positive displacement pump designed for continuous and reliable fluid transfer.
The two screws are synchronized by precision timing gears located outside the pumping chamber.
These timing gears maintain the required clearance between the screws, allowing them to rotate without interference or metal-to-metal contact, which improves the dry-running capability and the handling of challenging media.
As the screws rotate, fluid is drawn into the suction side and transported continuously along the screw flights toward the discharge side.
The screw pitch, screw profile, screw diameter, and rotational speed can be optimized to meet specific application requirements, including flow rate, pressure, viscosity, temperature, and fluid characteristics.
